Hello Again Everyone,

I am proud to present a screenshot from the now, under-construction website. It isn't far off being done, I am just finishing some of the core functionality.

Please find below a list of features and changes that are a direct result of the website upgrade and changes to our systems.

  • The Downloads System has been terminated and removed. (It wasn't being used much anyway)
  • Some of the current content pages have been removed as they were apart of an old CMS plugin.
  • New Server Listings & Information
    All Pages will have information like the screenshot, including hints, tips, rules and known issues
  • Issue Tracker
    This will allow us to communicate known issues with the players so that if there is an outage or something stops working, you know why when we do.
  • Server Status Indicators
    You can see it at the top of the current screenshot, and will also be available in the menus, the servers will all show if they are up and online or if they are offline. Basic stats like Users Online are available where supported.
    These indicators will be available on the forums as well once the integration has been fulfilled.
  • New Ticket System
    * This is currently under construction *
    We want to streamline the process and make it as easy as possible to sumbit reports. When live, these reports will include the previously announced 'report-a-mod' so that if you have an issue with a staff member, you don't need to be afraid to let us know.
  • Staff Applications
    Staff applications have once again been streamlined and re-integrated into the new look. They will be easy to file and be made public to all. This lets you see your competition and allow you to see how many have applied. The same rules apply as in the past regarding multiple applications etc.
  • Rules & Info Pages
    Rules, Privacy Policy and Terms have all been updated. It is expected that every user read these pages to understand how we use data you submit to our servers as well as the rules we expect you to follow while using our services.
  • A couple of How-To's
    Need help setting up Push-to-Talk or Teamspeak itself? We have you covered. Hopefully when people start requesting more, we can get some more helpful tutorials up and going for people.
  • FAQ Section
    We intend on setting up an FAQ section, it will cover everything from Premium Subscriptions to server inquiries.
  • Getting Started & Other Guides
    Servers will get guides depending on their content, including the aforementioned How-To's as well as getting started on the server and how to use the server mechanics to your advantages (Such as surviving certain mobs etc)
  • Changes to Premium & VIP
    While no major changes are being made to the program itself, how we present it is. We have come to realize that due to the recent issues in Minecraft causing a lot of mod support to drop, we have been unable to match what we used to offer. We don't like the idea of misleading people into giving up money. Because of that we are going to be more transparent with what each paid membership offers as well as trying to update the specifics on a per-server basis.
    Paid Memberships will have a dedicated page where they can keep up to date with what their membership does and doesn't include and what the benefits of moving up are.
  • Fully Mobile Friendly
    The forums may not be able to be fully mobile friendly, but the website will be. If you want to check if there is a server issue that is stopping you for joining on MineChat, you will be able to check the website on your phone or tablet!
  • Without further ado; A screenshot!

  • There is a lot more to come but for now I am keeping some stuff under wraps, most of the staff doesn't even know yet ;) - There is much more I'd love to show you but it would ruin some of the upcoming changes and additions. I hope everyone likes the look of the new site as much as I've enjoyed developing it.

P.S I would really appreciate feedback!

Original Announcement:

Hello Everyone,

As you know the site is a bit run down, and not used nearly as much as it used to be! We are looking to change that soon with a brand new website. As many will know from the server announcements, it isn't going to be too far away!

We will be keeping the core content as up to date as possible and will be implimenting more features and content as time goes by. This will affect the current offerings slightly as follows. Note that some may come back later or are being replaced with new replacements;

  • Downloads Section is being Removed. May offer new replacement but will not be as advanced nor will it be available upon release.
  • Server List is receiving a MAJOR update, stay tuned!
  • Blogs will remain!
  • Affiliates shortcuts will be removed, replacement to be determined.
  • Forums will be cleaned up a bit where possible, minimizing the front page's clutter.
  • Appeals Process will be revamped (This may be immediate or take time depending on release timeline)
  • Report Staff Issue will be apart of the new system (This may be immediate or take time depending on release timeline)

Got an idea for a forum section that needs to go? Or one that you see yourself and friends using in the future? Let us know here.

P.S. We aren't telling any secrets yet ;) so you're just going to have to wait!

    • Website Upgrade & Server Status
      By SpitefulBatman
      Upgraded Website
      Today I am posting to officially announce that the website has undergone some fairly major upgrades, as you can probably see.
      As of this post, we are still waiting for the upgrade of our own look and feel to be completed for the new software, however most of the functionality has been restored already.
      In addition we have some nice new features such as the Member Map and new Support System. All punishment appeals will now be run through the support system to better streamline the responsiveness of moderators and other team members. We hope this will ensure faster and more efficient responses from the team overall. In addition you will ALSO see that suggestions and bugs can be posted through here too. We prefer them posted there but if you want community input, you are welcome to use the existing forum to nut out your idea before posting it officially via the Suggestion Submission system.
      Hopefully we will all notice some performance improvements with this upgrade as well as a much much higher compatibility with Mobile and Tablet Devices!
      Server Status
      We are currently finished the prep work required to reset the server. There is a temporary Ancient World that has been put up to allow users to play around during this time. We expect the entire process to be completed before the end of this weekend.
      As far as towns and emeralds are concerned, we HAVE calculated how much each town Mayor will be given. All recorded town mayors will be receiving a partial refund to allow them to establish towns of reasonable size after the reset. The number was built upon how many users each town had at the time our original announcement was made... NOT how many plots or outposts the town had.
      Why can't we just get a full refund?
      Villagers spawned at huge rates due to the way that towns were spawning. This resulted in a massive influx of ill-gotten emeralds that should not have existed. As mentioned in the previous topic there were towns with hundreds upon hundreds of emeralds and even a few with thousands... all within 2 weeks. As such we felt it unfair to take them all away as at least some would have been obtained legitimatly. Partial refund calculations have been saved and will be issued within the next week to mayors.
      For all other members: look to your mayor for a re-invitiation or to otherwise negotiate your share of the refund. The Mayor has discretion at this time and we will not be stepping in to divvy up the spoils.
      Premium Users
      Over the coming weeks I will be organising 2 week passes for Premium users to reimburse for the past 2 weeks.

      We sincerly apologize that the plugin failure has caused such a mess. We hope to rectify it and leave it be after this final set of fixes rolls out. We hope that you can all understand the reasons behind the reset (Even though the members voted for it)
      Web Store
      Along with the server and website upgrades, the webstore has been updated to reflect both sets of changes. This includes the new currency and new discounts offered for Premium and VIP members. View the new store here.
      We are still accepting suggestions for new items and even entire kits via the new suggestion system. While we try to take every suggestion seriously, we certainly can't guarantee that your idea will make it to live. You may suggest names, text colours, item stats and even the price we sell them at. If sold, you will be given the first created one (free of charge) and your name will be displayed in the store as 'Designed By: '
      SIDENOTE: The TeamSpeak server has also received a minor codec upgrade which should improve the voice quality. Please let us know if there is anything wrong and we can rollback to the previous config.
      Thank you for reading my Text-Wall. We sincerly welcome feedback and are thankful that you are all here to enjoy the new features with us.
      Kind Regards,
      The Abyssal Gaming Network Team
    • Forum Update
      By SpitefulBatman
      Hello AGAIN guys, today is the final stage to finishing the grand web update. The forums have now had the theme applied to them after much work to achieve a consistant feel between the site and forums.
      There may be issues, and if you do come across them please let us know. We will give you a general run down of the changes and known issues below, unfortunatly many of them cannot be fixed as they are simply a limitation.
      Before I list the changes/bugs I first want to explain what responsive is. Responsive means that the page reacts to the browser window being resized. This means that it can be viewed on Mobile Devices and desktops without looking too bad or breaking.
      Unfortunatly the software we run is a little dated and are just beginning to delve into the responsive web. As such the existing software which is soon to be replaced, does not natively support responsiveness.
      Why did I tell you all that? Because it is relevant to some bugs you might experience that won't stop functionality but might look a little weird. So without further ado here is a list of changes and known issues;
      Changes: The sidebar on the main index page will hide itself when on a smaller screen, this is to prevent ugly wrapping of text and breaking of the layout. Don't worry it comes back when it detects there is room. The header will show a small menu when you are logged in on a small device, that way it doesnt break the navigation. Otherwise a full menu that is identical to the website now with the changes. All pages are now quickly accessible whilst within the forum. This includes the server status under the server menu at the top. Known Issues: Some text boxes are statically set by the software to be a certain width. As such if you shrink your screen too far they won't shrink with it. The Banner for 'similiar topics' is not formatting correctly (This is being looked into)
      Don't forget, if you find a bug, big or small, please let us know so we can look into it. We will list and update known issues here as we get them and eliminate them.
      Thank you all for your continued support, we are so lucky to have you as a part of this amazing community and we look forward to offering you more fun servers and interactions in the future. We truely hope you enjoy the website and forums update.

    • Upcoming Server Updates
      By SpitefulBatman
      As many already know, we recently hid an announcement for a new Hardcore Server within the website and its new release. Here are some details that may or may not be available at the official server page;
      http://www.abyssalgaming.com/servers/hardcore/info
      First and foremost we have just added 5 additional screenshots of the biome generation algorithms to the server page so go check that out. Like now.

      The Creative Server is another that will be revamped, although it may be a little bit after the Hardcore - The release schedule is not yet finalized. We are more than likely simply going to restart it from scratch, slap a new spawn on it and let you guys go nuts. Following suggestions from members, we are going to increase the MEMBER plot count to 2 instead of 1 and as such modify every rank above it by adding an additional plot to each.
      SkyBlock has been forgotten for a while, it sees little traffic but will be restored to functional shortly after Creative is back up and running.
      We are looking at releasing a Mini-Games and PvP Server where we will segregate the PvP Aspects from LDShadowlady and move them to their own server with their own resources. As much as we'd like to, we don't have any plans on making any major PvP match-types or the like in the future. We simply don't have the finance and network to maintain and design games to the standard of HyPixel and Mineplex.
      On the other hand we are seeking to stay as traditional as possible in many ways. Our focus has always been on a hard game experience instead of an easy one, and a traditional experience where possible. That is without weird and funky mechanics like elevators and self building houses and those thingy-ma-jiggys.
      As many know I constantly call out for suggestions, they are helping us shape how we change and design in the future. While we don't expect to become as large as HyPixel and other companies, we do want to treat our users more personally. Our decisions in the last LDShadowlady Update were fully backed by the majority of users playing on the server, as we treat all servers. We want the stakeholders to be the players and visa versa. Please post your suggestions in the suggestions forum, no matter how big or small. While we don't reply to or accept them all, we read them in detail and discuss them behind the scenes. Please don't be afraid to post!

      The LDShadowlady Server... This has been a discussion recently amongst everyone. Something the staff has taken particular notice to.
      We have seen chatter of a lot of people discussing potentially resetting the server. This is not something I have considered for a few reasons;
      We originally wanted at least a year out of the current server There is still much of the map that has yet to be fully explored, secrets that haven't been found and discovered We know a lot of dedicated players don't want to lose their build yet again A full restart will require us fully looking at our plugins and perhaps removing some that are holding us back from proper 1.8 Operation. Having said that, it seems a lot of members have raised good points as to why a reset would be a good idea. The following is a general list brought to our attention by players;
      The server is almost 8 months old and does not have any of the new blocks or functionality that the major 1.8 Release introduced to the game. After so much time, the map has become boring as most people have finished building what they wanted and feel too tied down to start again. In addition they would have too much money and blocks to start again in proper 'hardmode' as was originally intended. It would give us a chance to create new set of rules/plugins etc. that can be decided and discussed by the members of the server. In summary we are looking for a lot of feedback here, please have your say whether it be an opinion about the LDS reset or ideas and suggestions for the other servers and changes. We hope to have more information in coming weeks and look forward to hearing from you guys, the players.
