  1. Alright, a lot of these ideas were already mentioned to mickket in teamspeak, but its important to have other people who arnt part of staff see ideas and say if they like them too so here goes. That being said, I wont go into much detail on ones that sed so wonderfully talked about.

    1. More shops/ways to get money. With taxes on, a towny server runs off its economy, and if the only way to keep a town going is to mine stone and sell it, people get burnt out and dont play. However, in addition to just selling items, having a reward based mini-game system would be awesome, where tokens could be traded in for money (one way transfer) and fuel towns that way. Then, if someone has sold all their excess items, they dont need to go mining, they could go play some games with friends. Also, gold and iron farms have made smelted gold and iron shops unpractical. However, if you were to have shops where you sell the ore, then you would know that it was mined by hand and not in a farm. (Smelted gold could be sold however if we use mickkets awesome custom nether)

    2. Arenas, racetracks and minigames! With colored glass coming out in 1.7, a racetrack where each section is a different color, like the old one, but the glass as well would look awesome. Doing team based racetracks would be awesome too, where you had to wait for a partner to open a gate via stone pressure plate to move on. Arenas are self explanatory, but complex multileveled ones, like the ships on the last map, are AWESOME, especially from the view of an (ex)member. In arenas 1 2 and 3 the person with strong weapons and armor always wins. However, on the ship arena, you could punch someone, hide, jump, use distractions and push people into water and off ladders that meant that battles lasted a loooot longer, and wernt necessarily won by the person with better gear. Plus, with sniper perches people could shoot others as they ran below, which was always fun.

Some minigames we could have are a falling sand game, where you run around in a 20 by 20 box, and have a spawner drop sand entities (2 high) on you. If you had a negative jump effect in that 20 by 20 area, then people wouldnt be able to jump out of the sand thats suffocating them, and the last one left would win! Obviously, signs everywhere would have put down, and i know with some regioning you could deny dropping items, which would make this game less problematic for mods.

Another game uses this plugin http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/kill-bat/. Basically, spazzed out bats that jump and fly quickly zoom around and you have to take wild pot shots with a group of people to kill it, whoever gets lucky gets a prize (the chat says who won the round, which could get annoying, so there may be a better way to carry out this idea)

Finally, and my most favorite, is splegg. Splegg is sorta like spleff, except instead of knocking people down by removing the floor under them, you shoot eggs at people, which causes them to knockback and fall down! Make a multilayered area with no fall damage, and have people start at the top and fall their way down would be great! Depending on what the area(s) look like, you could potentially combine parkour jump puzzles and shooting games together to a huge battle! http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/splegg-game/

    3. Towny commands menu. Using chest commands http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/chest-commands/ you can link commands to items that appear within a chest. Since LD is geared towards appealing to children who often are put off by learning complex commands (and people transferring from vanilla who do not want to learn the commands). Basically, you could set the command to /tc (towny commands) and have a menu pop up that looks like the inside of a chest. Then, each item would have a description of what it does, and once you click it, it would act like a powertool binded to /t claim or /t outpost claim ect. Perhaps, you could even make a /sc for shop commands, and be able to sell common items from your own base, making teleporting back and forth from spawn and your base unnecessary, and saving server stress from happening.

    4. This one is mostly for mickket, but the plugin worldmodify or one similar to it. Basically, its world edit, except it does the commands in chunks. You could watch as an area fills in the blocks in very quickly in relatively small groups. I know that a lot of these minigame suggestions would require the occasionally oversight and control of an admin, potentially spleff and the sort, and having world edit going and lots of people running around can stress the server a lot... but having to kick everyone off everytime something gets reset isnt practical. I, personally, have set up a server on my computer for personal (worldedit) use, and ran this on it, while only limiting java to 1 GB. Amazingly, I was able to commands that would normally have crashed or lagged it a lot, without any of the issues (and you can type commands while its 'world editing' the areas, instead of the normal command stopping lag spike. http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/worldmodify/

    5. Plotme to ld! I really have wanted to be able to help build stuff for the server, but building in survival takes a lot longer, and huge projects that, realistically, would be the only thing that are of interest to public use on the server take a lot of time. If (this being a whole different suggestion) users were able to build something in plotme and have it transferred over for public use only (like arenas, shop designs, potentially minigame areas) then world edit would have to be used. If someone was given creative to help build within a small area (and obviously perms only allowing them to build in that plot) then a useful plugin would be no creative drop.  plugin http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/stop-creative-drop/ This plugin makes it so people in creative cant drop items, and can be set so that people in creative cannot interact with chests of any type.

    6. As seen above, make the possibility of builds, like classys hot air balloon end up world guarded as part of the spawn/areas/shops/the next gen of argenta.

    7. Though I agree that re-setting the end once in a while would be fun, I think that it should be clarified that it should be the end island only because if not, ender enders would be deleted as well, decreasing the options that people have to get XP. Also, with this reset, I think it should be recorded who gets to slay the dragon, so that person/ that group cannot go back in later and kill a dragon a second time and ruin the fun for someone new.

8.The essential horse mod. I assume the horse related drama will calm down once they are more common near the center of the map, but a lot of people are very vocal about their discontent that horses cant teleport with people and that armor can be taken off by someone other than the owner.

    9. VIP / Premium / Event Winner / Token shops. I know classy would do just about anything to have a grappling hook shop, and I personally am in lovvvve with the homerun bat (even if it isnt named the ugly stick anymore *tear*). Having a shop that sells the non-essential special enchant items would be sooo awesome. I also know that members would love to have these toys, so having a few that are sold to members for money, and then even more sold just with tokens that perhaps arnt in VIP or prem shops would be cool too. Also, if we have more competitions (which is yet another suggestion) like the redstone and build competitions, in addition to steam games a prize could be a month (or any unit of time) access to the other shops, and a free item thats awesome. (With this suggestion, some limitations would have to be put in place, verbal agreement with VIPs, Prems and even winners, or plugin limitation, to make sure that the world dosent get flooded with hundreds and hundreds of grappling hooks.

    10. More competitions. Perhaps no steam game rewards, instead just in-game stuff, who cares, it would be a lot of fun to have more of that. Also, with that, people who already won would be able to show off their ideas, but not help/win again for at least a few more competitions.

    11. Perhaps it already exists, but just isnt in a highly visible spot (or im blind, also totally possible) but a "What I built in LD section" on the forums. I know that not a lot of people post on the forums, and its a lot of the same people over and over, but building the abgn community outside of minecraft would be awesome, and one way to draw people onto the forums that isnt related to a jailing could be an area where you could post builds. I, personally, love exploring, yet I still manage to find amazing builds right over the hill from an outpost that I had no idea existed! It would be cool to see the skill that the ld server already has waiting.

    12. Mods get night vision helms as an item, so they can do their job with less head-ache. I know that classy and ankcta were loving the night-vision helm they are using.

    13. Keep the epic battle fortresses! Though the server is geared towards younger kids, there are some older people on the server as well! Having areas, like the fortresses in the nether in mickkets nether, that naturally spawn super tough mobs is awesome! It would be a way to get specially enchanted items outside of the shops, and provide a source of entertainment for some of the older players. Also, having one public fortress that cant be claimed would be cool, I know that this map they were split up, and one was specifically set aside for members, but that was because mostly the fortresses were found by mods. Perhaps next time random people separately with no communication found the fortresses. Without intentionally doing so, they could claim and make inaccessible, all the fortresses. By having a warp sign (with lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of warning, as well as perhaps a quiz showing that they understand the danger) to the public fortress that cant be claimed or built at, it would give people a large mob-arena type area to get epic loot, without the lag of a mob arena.

    14. Spawn egg shops/rewards for winning the racetrack, or similar events that are held by staff. It wouldnt be too cheaty, but it would certainly help people who have a town near somebody who was hungry and needed to kill all the cows for food. If they did win in a competition, I think 2 spawn eggs would be best, that way they could populate their town with an animal or their choice (peaceful of course). As a layer of protection, only staff could place down the egg for the winner, but that is only if there is a danger of abuse or something of the type. (Also, could those passive mob parents be invulnerable to damage? With /potion it would be relativley easy, and with an infinite effect on the animals, the winner would be safe from jealous people trying to kill their prize, or griefers who killed them, while still letting them eat the drops from kids of the orginal)

15.Finally, now that Ive got carpal tunnel, my last suggestion (for now at least :P ) SECRETS SECRETS SECRETS! I know that the best part of the map re-set (other than moving in with my wonderful fellow utopians) was the secret shops. More, more, more! They are so much fun to look for, and very something I looked for at spawn for a loooong time! Perhaps an area that lets people know that general area the shops are in (spawn island, next-gen argenta town, ect) so that newer players who join at least know they are out there. Also, perhaps add in a new secret shop from time to time, without any warning, simply letting people know by throwing down a sign letting people know that all of a sudden theres a new shop. I think the secret shops were done perfectly this map by mostly having shops where you buy more items than where you can sell things. That makes it more optional and fun, and dosent give you an advantage over a fellow player who just happen to know about the shop. (within that, silk touch, efficiency and unbreaking enchanted book shops would be amazing, you have no idea how long ive grinded at a grinder just to get one of those books!)

Alright, thats all that I can think of for now! Many thanks,

    Big

  2. I think that, once 1.7 comes out with a stable build, it would be great to have a vote on moving to a new server. However, if we do re-set the map after 1.7, it would be important to have a vote on if we keep mickket biomes, use 1.7 biomes, or see if it would be possible to do 1.7 biomes WITH the added mickket ones.

That being said, I am excited to hear about a map re-set

  3. coreprotect is a very good plugin. it also lists all block changes in different pages, so it dosent lag the server if you accidentally click on a farm, and you dont need to carry around bedrock

  4. We could always start it over again; I think it would be cool to do team parkour where you cant move on without a partner standing on a pressure plate or something, that way one person cant dominate 24/7. (Plus with stained glass coming out.....)

  5. Hello all! It's that time in the life of a minecraft map, the new map feel has gone away, and the new map smell isnt so strong. So now is the perfect time to add some new things to the server!

First off, the best part of the whole re-set, other than new towns, was the fact that spawn had secret shops. That was straight up awesome, and I know I spent forever looking for them. I think it would be awesome if more secret shops (or secrets in general) were added to spawn/other world guarded areas, and then signs were put up to notify players. I know that abgn gets a lot of traffic, from both older players, but also a lot of younger players, and I think secret areas like that are something that pretty much everyone from every age group would love to explore and find! Also, by putting in signs telling people either how many secret shops are in spawn or agenta, then more players would know about the shops, and have fun looking for them. Having a sign that tells you how many shops are in spawn would also be a shame for certain players (*koff koff* theres-no-shop-in-LD's-foot-classy) but would be nice for younger players who would get fed up looking for shops that dont exist.

Secondly, the last map had some minigames, and the new map has a WIP werewolf arena, and a few unofficial minigames, but I think it would be awesome to have some worldgaurded minigames, like the parkour on the last map, let it be made by users or by staff. If staff would like to have stuff built for general use, it would be wonderful if a list of potential builds could be made so users know what is wanted, and perhaps even have another competition, with a month of premium be the reward. I know a lot of players join because of LD's video of parkour and are disappointed that it is no longer in the map.

Finally, I'd like to say that the addition of EchoPets was a great choice, it too helped entertain younger and older players alike, and is very well balanced. My one thought is that it would be nice if there was a way to turn off the sounds echopets make. I have no clue if thats even possible, and it might simply be fixed by 1.7 and the new sound settings, but I know a lot of members are fed by be squeeking bats!

Thanks for the read, please respond with ideas of things youd like to seen built for the community, I finished all my big projects and want to dive into something new!

  6. So 1.6 is here, and now we have the wonderful but occasionally lag-creating horses! The only problem with these new mobs? They only spawn in new chunks, sometimes thousands of blocks from where you live and want to have your horse! This can take up hours of your time just taking them home. Also, many players have been stealing saddles and armor from horses since the horse GUI cannot be locked. The easy fix? HorseTools! This plugin not only works with essentials to let you use /warps when on a horse so you can move them around the map more easily, but also works like LWC when using chests, letting you 'lock' your horse so that no one can access the GUI or kill it.

This plugin is still under construction, but new features have been requested and are likely to be added including; leads connected to locked horses being locked, being able to /home on a horse with the horse, limiting the number of horses you can /lock, and finally economy function for the /lock command so you would have to pay for more /lock's.

Because this plugin is still under construction, and only has limited functionality at the moment, I think we should wait until a newer version comes out. However, until it does please get other people to support this thread to protect our horses, and even use a different plugin that already has the features that HorseTools will add later on.

    Thanks! -Big

  7. Utopian Courthouse (Sandstone)

    (Face East)

The Courthouse is made up largely of sandstone, dark wood and large windows fitting with the style of the town. There are two, main upper entrances to the courthouse, both which lead into an entry hall, which has access to the basement. From the main entry you can enter the two courtrooms; the left one being for peaceful matters and the right one for more serious crimes. Each courtroom comes with seating for onlookers, a witness stand, desks for both the plaintiff and the defendant, as well as a desk for the record keeper and a computer for him/her to type on. The main difference between the courtrooms is that one has a lever for the judge to flip, which would send a guilty player into a quick drop followed by a bath in lava.

The downstairs, which also has its' own entrance, has rows of desks for meetings in the general room, as well as very comfy quartz couches with TV's so you can see the court proceedings of you couldn't fit in the courtroom itself. There is also an office for the lawyer of the defendant, and an office for the judge with a nice storage unit in the desk.

    Thanks!

  8. Name: Patrick

    Age:17

    Location: Portland, Oregon, US

Games I play: Minecraft, the entire Command and Conquer series (mostly red alert 2), SIMS 2 and 3, Battlefront 2, LF2 and R-LF2 as well as most flash games on addictinggames.com.

How did I find abyssal gaming: I saw LD's video of the server racetrack and I wanted to check it out, and from there found out who ran the server and joined the teamspeak a few times. Once I joined the teamspeak I found out you guys were totally nuts so I made an account on abyssal.

How long have I been here: I'm a wee bit new on the server, I've only been here since February 14th

I visit the website every other day or so, however I don't ever log in unless I'm posting or reporting something, which shows because my online hours total to about five minutes.

I mainly play on the LDshadowlady server

I usually visit the server two to three times a day, depending if its a weekday or not.

What position are you applying for: I'm applying for the position of Mod, I cannot do art and music to save my life.

Why do you think you'll be an asset: I think I'll be an asset because I already know most of the mods decently well, Simbanm gave me the nickname of NU so thats what a few of the people on TeamSpeak call me, and because I'd probably be one of the younger mods I'd probably end up doing most of the grunt work for everyone else, which is always a plus for other people.

Experience: I modded for a bit on a couple of faction servers before they shut down (no funding), and I know my way around a bukkit server pretty well since I ran one for my buddies and I for a good year or so.

Make us laugh: This was the hardest question and I spent way too long thinking about it. I didnt want to just post a funny video or do a knock knock joke, so I'm gonna tell a story, even though I run the risk of TLDR.

The story is about the time I got lost in the sewers in another state with my best friend at the age of thirteen after a game of fugitive (flashlight tag with hundreds of people in random neighborhoods with people chasing you all over) was broken up by police. Yeah, I know. Its a good story, a bit long though.

So with my infinite wisdom at the age of thirteen I decided that going with my friend, who I was visiting out of state, to play fugitive was a great idea. I probably should have reconsidered once I found out that we would be driving to the game with my friends neighboors older sisters boyfriends friend who didnt even know us and really didnt care too much about us. About 30 minutes after the game started we saw flashing lights and so we decided to hide in a huge sewer pipe (it was New Mexico, normally its a desert but once it rains it POURS so they need huge drainage).

When we ran in our footsteps echoed a lot, so my friend kept pushing me down farther and farther in the pipe because he thought that someone was following us.

Ok lets be honest, I thought someone was following us too.

So after about five minutes of scrambling we were lost, scraped up and covered in what I still hope was mud, we stopped and got a hold of ourselves. We were lost, but it was no big deal right? My friend had just gotten the newest iPhone, whatever generation it was, and a new feature was maps! We were saved!

    Not.

Pro tip: iPhones dont work in the sewers.

So we wandered, alone, for about 3 hours, trying desperately to get out until something huge happened.

We found a drain hole, closed by metal poles.

This is where we started to argue. I didn't want to tell my friends mother (if you knew her, you'd understand. This lady made an angry mama grizzly bear look like a stuffed animal) where we were. Who cared if we could get signal, I'd rather starve to death in a sewer than see his mom mad. My friend wanted to call, so his parents could at least know how it was that we died a mysterious death. We ended up deciding not to call, and wandered for another hour or so.

At this point we got out of the sewers by squeezing through a set of poles that had been rammed, probably by a truck that swerved off the road. Only problem was we had no idea where we were.

See, in this part of New Mexico the people who build houses copy-pasted every single house on hundred times over. Literally every house was the same, and the homeowners associations forbid any outward changes.

So we thought perhaps we were in his neighborhood, but who really knew?

After a couple lucky guesses, and some skidmarks on the ground from when we left the neighborhood, we managed to find his house.

The story isnt over though. We were locked out.

We had left the side door unlocked because no one ever went in that part of the house, yet at some point my friends father had gotten up and closed the door.

So we were locked outside with no way back in, about half an hour before his family normally gets up.

How do you break into a house? We had no idea, so we opened up youtube and found a video on how to slide off window frames to get into houses, like the one he lived in.

So after a quick education on breaking and entering we tried everything the video said to get into the house.

    Didn't work.

So my friend just hit the corner of the window and the screen popped right into his hands. We scrambled in and threw the window and screen back into place, and dove under the covers.

Just like in a perfect hollywood movie we had about twenty seconds of break before his mother came in to wake us up.

So a lesson from the not so wise - don't go play fugitive with people you don't know in a place you don't know, and if you do please please please don't go into the sewers. It's pretty nasty.

Thank you for reading my application!

Why were you Punished? I broke one piece of glass in the end in order to get out, and was accused of stealing the enderegg

    Who Punished you? Simbanm

    Posted Information:

So i had my /homeset set in the end. I was about to go mineing so i did /home to dump my stuff off in the my chests and my home (when u jump in the end portal ir returns you to your bed, which was in my house). The end had been re-set and the portal had shifted over a few blocks and had a glass barrier set up around it. I couldnt get home because i had to jump in the portal, so i broke one piece of glass and hopped in, and i did not replace the glass because i had none on me. I now know i should have replaced the glass, which i did not, and understand i was at fault there. however, i it was the only way out of the end, other than a few hundred block walk from spawn. after being jailed i was then told i took the ender egg, which i didnt even know you could do, i thought when u tried to mine it it went teleporting off. i since googled the process and saw you need a piston, but mods can see when blocks have been broken, so it would be easy to scan the top of the ender portal and see that i did not place or break any pistons. If i have to remain jailed for the one piece of glass i suppose i understand, but at the very least i want it to be clear i didnt take the egg. (mods can look through chests, so u could check out all my chests and see i dont have the ender egg)

    thanks for your time
